Food and fame is a potent mix – here’s a look at the most popular stars of today and their favourite food.
Most celebrities have to watch what they eat and maintain the body beautiful for their respective careers, be it for film, fashion, music or modelling. But when they have their ‘off’ days, when they can kick their diet to the curb for a weekend of reprieve, be it a Bieber, Blake or a Swift, they indulge in delicacies and dishes of the calorific kind.
We’re matching stars with their preferred foods and trying to figure out where they would venture in Lan Kwai Fong, should they (and their entourage) have a night out in the 852. Here’s the advice we’d give their respective celebrity fixers should they ever land in Hong Kong and step out in the streets that never sleep.
Oh hello Lover! Pop princess Taylor Swift’s seventh album Lover may have broken sales records earlier this year (450,000 units sold in one day!), but as she revealed in a Vogue profile that she really LOVED was… chicken and dumplings. Well, if she was in the city, we’d ask her to hit Redhouse in California Tower to savour both. Ms Swift revealed she would never again speak of her “Lover” boyfriend in an interview ever again and only discuss things she loves like… well, food.

Justin Bieber and Timberlake
The enfant terrible of pop, Justin Bieber on the other hand said his favourite meal is the classic spaghetti bolognese. For that, he could hit Carbone and pick their Tortellini al Ragu (sheep’s milk ricotta bolognese with a generous sprinkling of parmesan). By the by, we would send singer Justin Timberlake there too – as his favourite dish is a lobster pasta – and as every foodie in town knows, the lobster Ravioli (with Vermouth and fine herbs) at Carbone is to die for.

Believe it or not the svelte supermodel Gigi Hadid is crazy about a juicy hamburger and she can hog it down without a care in the world at Beef & Liberty in the heart of LKF.

Unlike Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski confessed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Kimmel that the jet-setting model loves Thai and Indian food. She could curry favour at Chaiwala and their comprehensive selection of Southeast Asian delicacies.

When asked by a popular fashion magazine what she loves to eat, actress Blake Lively said her indulgence switched between the sweet and savoury, so either she’s yearning for chocolate soufflé or melted cheese. But her go-to for breakfast or brunch is always Eggs Benedict. For all three, she could hit Lily & Bloom, a perennial favourite of many. A location where you’d be spoilt for choice, it’s a credit to the team that they do every single dish so incredibly well.

Beyonce and Jennifer Lawrence
And finally, Queen B; that’s Beyonce, loves her pizzas and she loves her fried chicken – as she confessed to talk-show host Oprah Winfrey. In fact, Bey’ loves pizza so much, she wore a pizza outfit to a night out in New York. Well, we’d ask her to ring up Ciao Chow, as she could chow down on their signature margherita pizza.
We’d also ask Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence to hit the same spot. Lawrence indulged in slices not only before she went to the Oscars – but during the Academy Awards she was munching down on her fav slices as she was starving during the long telecast.
Ah stars. They’re just like us.
