This one should be obvious, but it’s worth repeating. Spartan races are challenging – intentionally so. The international organization strives to push people beyond what they thought was possible. In fact, they call themselves a “catalyst for transformation”, both mental and physical, because once you’ve made it through the obstacle course, you know you can do just about anything. It’s the world leading obstacle course race, so it’s going to be tough. But oh, is it worth it!

There’s no such thing as a Spartan race. On the day, there are multiple courses being run, and each one is completely unique. There are no two identical courses in the entire world, so you’ll never be able to run the same course twice. If it’s your first time competing, or your new to your fitness journey, register for The Sprint. At 5km, it’s their shortest distance race, but there are obstacles around every corner. If you’re feeling confident, try the middle-distance Super race. It’s 25 obstacles spread across 13km, perfect for seasoned athletes. Large groups should sign up for the Hurricane Heat, a team-based event designed to push you to your furthest and teach you the meaning of teamwork. Trust us, nothing screams “team bonding” like scrambling through a mud pit together!

We’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating: no two races are the same, so every time you compete it’s a brand-new experience. On top of that, Spartan races are incredibly inclusive. They encourage people to participate, regardless of where you are in your fitness journey. From expert to total novice, there’s room for you at a Spartan race. In fact, it’s not uncommon to see people helping each other out throughout the course— think of it as dose of teamwork.
