Move over breakfast, everyone knows brunch is the new MVP of meal times.
Halfway between breakfast and lunch, brunch has become more than eggs Benedict and bloody Mary’s, it’s basically a verb now. To brunch is more than to have a late morning meal, it’s to indulge in an entire morning of revelry; and nowhere does it better than Hong Kong.
With so many decadent brunch options, it’s hard to choose just one. That’s where we come in. We’ve hand-picked our favourite spots for brunch, so you don’t have to.
If you’re looking for an elegant brunch option with beautiful views over Central, then one-Michelin-starred ON Dining is for you. Chef-owner Philippe Orrico recently launched a new brunch menu: The French Roast (HK$428 + 10%). Best enjoyed in groups, it’s his fresh take on a classic Sunday roast. The meal starts with a selection of appetisers for the table, like fresh oysters and foie gras crème brulee. Then, choose from a range of roasted meats and fish. Dishes like grilled lamb cutlets or black cod teriyaki are perfect for one, or the whole table can share a yellow chicken or Atlantic sole. And of course, dessert is an affair of its own—a buffet of the restaurant’s classic sweets and famous cheese selection. The French Roast also includes a special happy hour of HK$50 cocktails, wines and beers. Be warned though: floor-to-ceiling windows flood the beautiful space with natural light, so if this is a recovery brunch, you’ll want to bring some sunglasses.

Another Black Sheep Restaurant, Carbone’s Fiasco has developed something of a cult reputation within Lan Kwai Fong. This once-a-month extravaganza is a feast for all of the senses, a completely immersive experience that combines the restaurant’s signature dishes with exciting live performance. It’s different every time, but one thing is guaranteed: you’ll be drawn into their world and find yourself dancing in the aisles before the dessert course. Pro tip: don’t forget about the food! It’s surprisingly easy to get caught up in the action, but you can’t leave that spicy vodka rigatoni! Tables for the event get snapped up quickly, so make your reservations early.
