After a few quiet months of holidays, Hong Kong is shaking up this February with a host of fun events you don’t want to miss

We did it team. We made it out of January, inexplicably the longest month of the year. To celebrate, we rounded up a list of all the most exciting events happening in the 852 this February.

Spring Lantern Festival

Move over Valentine’s Day. In Hong Kong the Spring Lantern Festival is the most romantic day of the month. Each year, the Spring Lantern Festival (aka Chinese Valentine’s Day) is celebrated on the first full moon of the new year. It’s traditionally a day for couples, but everyone will feel the love on this holiday, because Hong Kong will be lit with festive lanterns everywhere you look. Both Victoria Park in Causeway Bay and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui offer great opportunities for lantern lovers.

The Spring Lantern Festival is on 8 February, 2020.

Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon [Cancelled]

Whether you’re a devoted athlete or just a dedicated supporter, don’t miss the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2020. A favourite event in the city’s athletic calendar, thousands of runners will gather to compete. There are a number of events besides the full marathon, including a 10K, a Family Run and a Wheelchair Race. The race starts in Tsim Sha Tsui, but spectators should head to Nathan Road or Hennessy Road to watch everyone race to the finish line.

The Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon is on 9 February, 2020. For more information, see here.

Unfortunately the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2020 has been cancelled due to health concerns.

RuPaul’s Drag Race: Werq the World Tour 2020

The Queens of Fabulousness return to the 852 this month, as The Official RuPaul’s Drag Race World Tour returns with an all new show. If you’re a fan of the show, this is where you need to be. Michelle Visage, Aquaria, Detox, Kim Chi, Monet X Change, Plastique Tiara, Sharon Needles and Violet Cachki will be saving the universe and slaying the looks at AC Hall. VIP meet and greet tickets are also available for all you super fans.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Werq the World Tour is happening 21-22 February at AC Hall. Tickets are more information is available here.

Freespace Outdoors

Keep those positive #NewYear #NewMe vibes going this February with Freespace Outdoors latest event. They’re marking a new year and a new decade with a multi-genre, boundary-pushing weekend of live performances and activities, and it’s all free! The two-day event has music, dancing, camping, workshops, and art installations by local and visiting artists. It’s a weekend to unwind, relax and unleash your inner creative.

Freespace Outdoor is a completely free event, though some workshops require pre-registration. It’s happening 15=16 February, 2020. You can find more information here.

Longines Masters Hong Kong

The greatest horses and riders return to Hong Kong this month for the Longines Masters. One of the biggest events in the cultural calendar, the Masters brings world-class show jumping, entertainment, fashion, art and gastronomy to Asia World Expo. When you’re not watching horses leap higher than you ever thought they could, you can relax in the Prestige Village. Here, you’ll find luxury shopping, delicious bites, and can even mingle with the riders between their competitions. For horse lovers, this is a must-do.
