Laugh out loud at the city’s finest comedy clubs
They say laughter is the best medicine, and we could definitely use some medicine right about now! Thankfully, 19 March is national ‘Let’s Laugh Day!’. Celebrated around the world, it should really be called ‘international Let’s Laugh Day!’, but let’s not be pedantic.
There are over 1,500 national days on the books, but this is one of our favourite ones, because everyone loves to laugh. In fact, laughing is good for you – it’s been shown to strengthen the immune system, boost your mood and lower stress. Not to mention, it’s just fun.
If you’re ready to celebrate national Let’s Laugh Day, read on to find the best comedy clubs in Hong Kong.
If you love stand-up comedy, check out The Riff. It’s Hong Kong’s only full-functional comedy venue – built by comedians and for comedians. Not that there’s anything wrong with a basement show! It’s also the first venue in Asia by Live Nation, the entertainment powerhouse behind the legendary Punchline Clubs in the US. If you’ve ever been to a show by Jim Jefferies, Jim Gaffigan or Russel Peters, these are the guys to thank! Come for the night, they’ve got a killer speakeasy bar, food from California Tower’s favourite restaurants, and a view you’re never going to want to leave.

You may know them as one of the best spots in town for live music, but The Aftermath also hosts a regular comedy night. In fact, they describe themselves as ‘Hong Kong’s newest, hippest venue for comedy’. While that’s a lot to live up to, we’re not disagreeing! Head over every Tuesday from 8:30-10:30pm for Open Mic night – you can even take the stage, if you dare. If you need some extra incentive, it’s happy hour prices all night long!
