It’s finally autumn, which means it’s a great time to start cosying up inside and getting re-acquainted with the best cocktails in town. If you’re sick of pumpkin spice and cinnamon-flavoured everything, head to Foxglove to try their recently revamped cocktail menu.
Hidden behind an English umbrella shop, only those in the know can find their way to Foxglove’s most adventurous cocktail menu yet. The Old-World speakeasy looked to the golden-age of prohibition for inspiration, and the result is a playful new menu of bold flavours which tell the “stories” of the enigmatic globetrotter Frank Minza.
Minza is the elusive figure behind Foxglove—more myth than man, but always captivating. Frank Minza’s life story is indeed fascinating. Legend has it that he tried his first cocktail at the American Club, and then began a career as a bartender in prohibition-era New York City. He was friends with Winston Churchill, and generally had a knack for being in the right place at the right time. The results of his life are, in a word, delicious.
The new menu pays homage to Minza’s imagined travels through countries and times. Four sections take drinkers through New York City, London, Jamaica and more, and each drink comes with a tall-tale. Check out our three favourite cocktails from the new menu below, perfect for cool evenings inside.
A Foxglove signature, this is an eclectic fusion of Old Forester 86 Proof Bourbon, cream, crème de cacao, sherry, egg and grated nutmeg. It’s strong but smooth and perfect for sipping on a chilly evening.
The Brazilian Affair
A product of Frank Minza’s travels, this cocktail is what happens when Brazil meets a French summer. It’s an exotic and fruity blend of Abelha organic Cachaca Rum, lime, sugar, frozen watermelon and pickled watermelon.
Nursing a broken heart? Minza had one too, but his old friend Chet Baker – the famous jazz musician helped him put it back together again, with coffee-infused Bacardi 8, Antica Formula and honey.
