Top Shots: The Coffee Academics Lands in Lan Kwai Fong

Lan Kwai Fong has always been the best place to get your buzz on. Now there’s a new reason to stop by for a perfect pour: The Coffee Academics.

The city’s buzziest coffee connoisseurs have taken up residence at 24 D’Aguilar Street—that’s the Wellington Street end of the city’s premier party strip.

Step into The Coffee Academics outlet, and you’re transported into a slick, coffee bar and open kitchen. It’s a contemporary space, beautifully lit, with an upstairs and balcony that make it a prime people-spotting position—day or night.

If you’re interested in a new brew, have a chat with the master roasters and baristas—they’ve got the inside line on single-origin features, cold brews, nitro coffee and seasonal specialties. Speaking of seasonal items, the menu has a range of hearty food options in a list that has been put together for winter.

But, at the heart of it all, The Coffee Academics is serious about its coffee. It prides itself on having some of the world’s best Arabica beans. It likes to boast that its roasts scored between 92 and 94 on the World Coffee Review, which are among the highest in Asia.

Opening in Lan Kwai Fong is surely the highlight of what’s been a big year for The Coffee Academics. The leading specialty-coffee brand now has a coffee school and roasting facility, as well as an expanding number of outlets in Hong Kong, two outlets in Singapore and a new store in Shanghai.
