It will also feature works by Edith Canat de Chizy, who was inspired by the brilliance and tragedy of the painter Nicolas de Staël. NÄSS (People) The Massala Dance Company, lead by choreographer Fouad Boussouf, will bring you to the streets of Morocco, a former French colony. This original ensemble piece explores the cross-cultural influences of North African dance and contemporary hip-hop, as seven male dancers take over the stage in a rhythmic and haunting performance. Hikikomori The Shelter Last, but in no way least, is the dazzling Hikikomori The Shelter, by Joris Mathieu with Haut et Court collective. It’s a futuristic story about fitting in and finding your place in the world, using original sound design to show the audience three viewpoints of the same story. The Japanese word “hikikomori” roughly translates to “withdrawal from others”, and it’s a sad reality of our modern world. Here, Joris Mathieu and the Haut et Court collective explore one teenager’s decision to withdraw, entering his room never to leave again. Using headphones, the audience can choose to view the story through the eyes of the protagonist, the mother or the father.
