Le French May
The best part about May isn’t the junk boat parties, beach days or even the warm nights and Aperol Spritz. It’s Le French May, of course! It’s one of the largest cultural events in Asia, with more than 120 programmes presented to over a million visitors each year. It’s a celebration of French culture in Hong Kong and Macau, that offers audiences a chance to experience the best of France – from dance, film and fashion to food and drink – without ever leaving the city. You can eat your way through France at these amazing restaurants, or get 15% off the hottest performances here.
Le French May is taking over Hong Kong from 1 May – 30 June. For more information and a full list of events and promotions, visit www.frenchmay.com
Cheung Chau Bun Festival
Every summer, the island of Cheung Chau is overrun with visitors looking for fresh seafood and mango mochi. But for one weekend every May, people are coming for a totally different reason: to watch the famous Cheung Chau Bun Festival, which falls on the same day as Buddha’s birthday. There are events happening throughout the weekend-long celebration, but most people like to go on the third day to watch brave climbers scramble up the three huge bun mountains. There is a lot of history behind this fun day out, and it’s worth researching before you go!
The Cheung Chau Bun Festival runs from 9 – 13 May, 2019 on Cheung Chau. For more information see here.
