Be ready to get into the groove this week with a number of exciting music events happening right here in Hong Kong.

Rewind’s WAVES

This National Day, before the summer ends, the Rewind team presents WAVES Vol#2—the beach-party series on the gorgeous Hong Kong beachside at Cococabana. French DJs Guisdtadt, who spent over seven years breathing and living New York’s notorious underground electronic music scene, and Kouro, who first started to produce and play in some Bordeaux clubs before moving to Hong Kong and exploring different styles, highlight the event. Admission is free.

Simon Dunmore at Drop

Simon Dunmore, founder of Defected Records, will return to Drop for another Defected in the House event as part of his Asia tour. Known as one of the U.K.’s best-known dance labels, 15 years on, he is still leading the digital revolution and shows no sign of stopping. Dunmore is also one of the most respected and technically gifted house DJs, having appeared at pretty much every club of note in a career spanning three decades.

Volar Presents Michael Prado

A unique artist who knows how to ignite the crowd with his charisma and explosive energy, Prado has produced and collaborated with fashion designers like Philipp Plein from 2011 until the present. He brings a diverse style from electro to progressive house music and has played in clubs from Beijing to Sao Paulo and everywhere in between.

One Night in Paradis

K-MELO returns to Paradis, this time joined with special guest Freedom Chicken who hails from Tokyo. Freedom Chicken, who has done numerous remix works and released many dance-floor re-edit beats for DJ uses, continues to show his unique and original mixture DJ style of techno, house, jazz, soul, afro beat and hip-hop in Tokyo’s underground dance-music scene.

The Skatalites Live in Hong Kong

A ska band from Jamaica, they began performing in the country in May 1964. The band became legendary, backing all the developing artists of the day, such as Toots and the Maytals, Prince Buster and the Wailing Wailers featuring Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. These groups were all recording on the new beat called ska, which had an infectious rhythm that was catching on like wildfire. Support comes from Hong Kong 11-piece ska band the Red Stripes and special guests.

Live Edition by ZoukOut

Possibly the biggest party in town at the inaugural 2016 FIA Formula E HKT Hong Kong ePrix, and part of the world’s first all-electric motor-racing series, ZoukOut is Singapore’s definitive annual dance festival. Famous for its high-energy atmosphere and top EDM (electronic dance music) DJs Live Edition by ZoukOut brings the party to Hong Kong and adds new elements to up the excitement with big name, chart-topping artists and performers—think Nelly, Ne-Yo acclaimed Dutch DJ and music producer Nicky Romero.
