Is there anything better than an ooey gooey, fresh out of the oven pizza?

Pizza: it just might be the world’s most perfect food. Whether you like a NY-style slice, a Chicago deep dish or a delicate Neapolitan pizza, Central is the place to sate your cravings in Hong Kong. These five pizza-joints each have their own methods, with some even proofing their dough for up to 36 hours!

Take it home or eat in, pile it high with luxe toppings like truffles, or keep it simple with classics – however you like your pizza, these are the five best pizzas to try in Central.

Ciao Chow

Rough night? Long week? Stressed out? Celebrating? Whatever the occasion, pizza is always the right answer. And Ciao Chow serves up some of the best in Hong Kong. This relaxed Neapolitan pizzeria is the first in Hong Kong to be certified by the Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana (AVPN) – so you know it’s the real deal. Right at the bottom of California Tower, you can’t miss it. They also do a great brunch buffet every weekend, definitely worth trying!

Kytaly

Kytaly has been one of our favourite spots since it opened, because of the way it blends two seemingly incongruous themes: “Ki”, the Japanese symbol of life’s energy, and Italian cuisine. If you’ve ever tucked into one of their mouth-watering pizzas, you know what we’re talking about. Opened in collaboration with legendary pizzaiolo Franco Pepe, one of the greatest pizza masters in the world. His pizzas are even ranked number one in Italy – the secret is the dough, which is actually 70% water!

CIAK – in the Kitchen

Treat yourself to a Michelin-starred pizza at CIAK – Hong Kong’s only Michelin-starred trattoria. Famed chef Umberto Bombana is behind the helm here, and this intimate restaurant turns out incredible pizzas made with natural ingredients. Their crust is made with five kinds of Italian flour and fermented for 36 hours. Try the famous Black Truffle pizza, topped with Taleggi cheese, egg yolk and freshly shaved Melanosporum black truffle.

POSTO

POSTO is a SoHo favourite for pizzas, and there’s a reason why. This New York – Italian joint serves up decadent, individual pan pizzas. They’re thicc, they’re delicious, they’re some of the best comfort food you’re going to find in the 852. When you come, be sure to bring an appetite (and some friends). You’re going to need both to best their giant pies. We like the Bronx Bomber, pan-fried in an iron skillet and topped with sausage, pepperoni, mozzarella and oregano from their garden.

The Pizza Project

Do you remember being a kid, when the best parts of birthdays were the pizza parties? Well, you can tap into that nostalgia at The Pizza Project. Sit down with friends or family and share a slice at a good price. Tuck into the classic Margherita, or try something different, like their Tonno e Cipolle – a pizza made with tuna chunks and baked red onions. They also have a ton of extra toppings to choose from, so you can make all your pizza dreams come true.
