5 Reasons We Love Taste of Hong Kong 2018

Hong Kong’s biggest food and wine festival is coming back to the 852 this March, and we couldn’t be more excited. It’s a veritable foodie playground, with 14 of the city’s best restaurants plating up over 60 mouthwatering dishes. And best of all, many of those dishes are exclusive to the event, so you’ll only ever find them there.

Duddell’s, Okra, Yardbird and Zuma will be the only familiar restaurants this year, the rest are first timers to the event. BlackSalt, Bo Innovation, Caprice, Chachawan, Frantzén’s Kitchen, Haku, Little Bao, New Punjab Club, One Harbour Road, Pici and Poem Patisserie are all joining for the first time ever, along with London favourite, Bubbledogs, delivering delicious-looking menus at prices you can actualy afford.

Here are five reasons why we love Taste, besides the fact that it’s just so much fun.

It Won't Bankrupt You
Most people don’t have the dollar to casually book a table at Michelin-starred restaurants like two-starred Caprice or three-starred Bo Innovation. But at Taste, you can try dishes from as little as HK$50. They’ve also lowered the price of entry this year too, starting from HK$96.

Variety is the Spice of Life
Cherry pick your favourites from a whopping selection of 60 different dishes, and craft your own perfect meal. Go ahead, be bold! Get one starter at Frantzén’s Kitchen, another at Caprice, a main at BlackSalt (and another at Pici) and then finish with a few cakes from Poem Patisserie and Little Bao. Pro tip: check out the menus now to scout out your must-try dishes.

You Can Get In
Have you tried getting a table at New Punjab Club yet? Because we have, and it’s not easy. These are the best restaurants in the city, so you can be fairly certain the waits are always long. And if they don’t take reservations, forget about it! At Taste you know you’re going to get access to all the bites you want – no bookings necessary.

Industry Updates
This is a little bit more niche, for the totally obsessed foodies out there, but still very exciting. Taste of Hong Kong is a great place to go to get all the most cutting-edge news and insights from the industry. Sometimes that’s on the DL – who knows what you might overhear- and sometimes it’s official. We’ve heard whispers there will be a very big announcement this year…

A Gourmet Food Market
When you’re done stuffing yourself at all the different restaurants, you can walk it off in the The Gourmet Market, a vast assembly of local and international booths of food, drinks and more. Over 60 artisan producers will be there, and you can sip, sample and shop until you can’t possibly fit any more (and then you can bring the rest home to have another day).

Taste of Hong Kong presented by Standard Chartered will take place at the Central Harbourfront from 22-25 March, 2018. For more information, tickets and full menus, head to www.hongkong.tastefestivals.com
